CLIMATE CRISIS IS WATER CRISIS - YOU KNOW WHY?

Climate crisis is a water crisis

" This world has been covered by 70% of water, this seems easy to think that we have plenty of water available for us, but the fact is only 3% of water is fresh water among that only 1% is accessible rest of 2% were reminded as glaciers"

As a result, some 1.1 billion people worldwide lack access to water, and a total of 2.7 billion find water scarce for at least one month of the year. Many of the water systems that supports human development have become stressed. Rivers, lakes and other similar fresh water resources are getting drying up or getting polluted due to dumping industrial effluents on these water bodies.

These are the industries that required waste water treatment for sure

Agriculture consumes more water than any other source and wastes much of that through inefficiencies. Climate change is altering patterns of weather and water around the world, causing shortages and droughts in some areas and floods in others.

Experts are having great concern about this situation. According to their apprehension, by 2025 two-thirds of world population will face a severe water crisis and the Eco system around us will suffer even more.

How  climate crisis  is a water crisis ?

Climate crisis is hot topic nowadays were people all around the world is actively engaging to discuss about this topic or participating voluntarily in campaign to create awareness about the importance of go green. Changing weather patterns leads to unpredictable weather events like water scarcity, heavy rain, flooding are effects of the climate change.

Recently we know how Germany and China experienced heavy flood and even scientist admitted themselves that they can't expect this disaster and they can't predict it. Flooding sweeps all the sewage along its way, there are more possibility for mixing of sewage water with a flood, when this flood mixed with fresh water bodies it leads to severe water contamination. More people health will tend to affect because of this event.

The following point will help you to understand importance of taking action against climate and water crisis.

  • Around 74 per cent of natural disasters between 2001 and 2018 were water-related, including droughts and floods. The frequency and intensity of such events are only expected to increase with climate change.
  • When disasters hit, they can destroy or contaminate entire water supplies, increasing the risk of diseases like cholera and typhoid to which children are particularly vulnerable.
  • Rising temperatures can lead to deadly pathogens in freshwater sources, making the water dangerous for people to drink.
  • Rising sea levels are causing fresh water to become salty, compromising the water resources millions of people rely on.
  • By 2040, almost 1 in 4 children will live in areas of extremely high water stress.

Treating waste water and recycling it is the best option to control water contamination problem. It is our responsibility to protect fresh water bodies. We should be aware of present and future generations. Industries should understand importance of water treatment and effluents should be well treated before dumping into the water bodies.

Global warming will undoubtedly mean that we will live in a more dangerous and uncertain world, but the consequences are still manageable if we aim for both drastic emission cuts and policies to make societies more resilient. Many water-related solutions let us do both simultaneously and they should, therefore, be prioritized. Protecting forests, integrating wetlands in cities, and investing in wastewater treatment are examples of solutions that multi-task.
